About Your Library Card
What does your card do for you?
Your library card entitles you to borrow materials from any library within the SAILS Library system. You may also request materials from any SAILS library at the Circulation Desk, by phone, or online, and have them delivered to the library of your choice. Materials may also be returned to any SAILS library.
Your card also lets you do more than just borrow books: The Library has internet computers, movies on DVD and video tapes, music CDs, audio books on tape and CD, museum discount passes, puppets and more. Your card also provides access to valuable online resources including searchable magazine and newspaper articles, specialized health and business databases, live homework assistance, online encyclopedias and ebooks, and test preparation - all available in the library, and many at home.
Who Can Get a Library Card
Library cards are available to all Massachusetts residents. Non-residents may also obtain cards, however, a deposit will be required in order to check-out materials.
- Proof of your current address is required (Driver's license, other ID, or mail received at current address.
- Your first library card is free.
- Replacement cards cost $1.00.
- Children must make an attempt to write their first name in order to apply for a card.
Does the Library accept cards from other libraries?
Yes. Middleborough Public Library accepts cards from any SAILS library. If you have a SAILS card you don't need to re-apply.
Does your Library card work at other libraries?
Yes. Your Middleborough Public Library card can be used directly at any SAILS library. If you have a SAILS card you don't need to re-apply.
How do you get a library card?
Any Massachusetts resident may apply for a library card. Simply come to the Library Circulation Desk with proof of your current address and fill out an application. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Acceptable proof of address consists of:
- a valid driver's license with current address or official change-of-address sticker
- mail addressed to you at your current address plus a valid driver's license or other photo ID
What if you lose your card?
There is a $1 replacement fee for lost or stolen library cards. If you believe that your card has been stolen please report it immediately at (508) 946-2470 or firstname.lastname@example.org
How do you apply for a Library Card?
You may pick up an application form at the Library's Main Desk, or apply online. Please note that children's applications must be signed by a parent or legal guardian in the presence of a Library staff member.
Bring the completed form with you to the library along with a valid picture ID and proof of your address.
