About the Middleborough Gazette Index
This resource provides an index to the Middleborough Gazette for the years 1852 to 1868 and 1905 to 1928. This pdf format index can be searched by keywords including, but not limited to, first and last family names. This is an ongoing project and other years will continue to be added on a regular basis. Unfortunately, no copies of the Gazette are available for the years between 1868 and 1905.
The index is not itself a full-text resource, however, the Friends of the Middleborough Public Library will be happy to provide copies of Gazette articles. (click here for details).
Alert to all Gazette Readers:
During the course of indexing the issues of the Middleborough Gazette, we have found several instances of pages being out of order in the microfilm collection itself. This is an error beyond our control. We have made careful note of each page mistake in the Introduction to every 5 year segment. To avoid frustration and annoyance on the part of our readers, please check the Errata Notices to ascertain whether the particular items you are seeking are in the correct order or not. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Middleborough Vital Records Index
This resource provides an easily searchable index of the Town's records of births, marriages, and deaths. While names and dates can be extracted from the index, please see the Middleborough Town Clerk for copies of the actual records indexed.
List of Middleborough Historical Resources
The 'List of Middleborough Historical Resources' section of the Digital Library provides a list of printed items about people, organizations and events that played a part in the Town's past. The list has been recently updated, and includes many new items such as articles about a local millstone referred to as Danson's Grindstone, Vietnam era hero Wayne Caron, and the Cemetery At the Green. The collection referenced in the list also now includes the complete run of a student magazine, "The Sachem" from Middleboro High School in the 1920's - 1930's. All of these items are available for use in the Library building only. Please check the updated list for items that just might pique your interest!
