NMS Summer Reading Requirements - 2010
Grade 6
Each student will read 2 books. One is Crash by Jerry Spinelli. The other book is a free choice from the genres of adventure or fantasy. For each story read, students must complete a story map. The story maps must be completed and brought to school in September.
When students return to school, they will write a summary for the book, Crash, under the guidance of their ELA teacher. A project will be assigned for the second title. The students will use their story maps to assist in these assignments.
Grade 7
Students will read 2 titles. One is The Ghost of Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen. The other is The Revealers by Doug Wilhelm. The students will complete a story map for each story and return them to school in September. When school begins, students will write a summary for The Revealers under the guidance of their ELA teacher. Students will answer a questionnaire about The Ghost of Spirit Bear.
Grade 8
