Join us for a fascinating visual presentation and discussion of Dartmouth author Holly Fitzgerald's new book, Ruthless River: Love & Survival by Raft on the Amazon's Relentless Madre de Dios. A question-and-answer session will follow the program. The author also will sell and sign copies of her book.
Ruthless River recounts the harrowing circumstances faced by Fitzgerald and her husband as they set off on a South American honeymoon adventure that swiftly transformed into a nightmare when their plane crash-landed in a Peruvian penal colony. Stranded in a tiny town on the banks of the Rio Madre de Dios, they decide to take the locals' advice to build a raft and travel down-river to Bolivia. But when their raft gets thrown off-course, they find themselves lost, trapped and quickly running out of time.
Fitzgerald worked as a counselor with children and adults for many years before teaching and counseling at Bristol Community College in New Bedford. Ruthless River is her first book.
